Overview

Originally built in 1866, Ponemah Mill was one of the oldest and largest cotton textile mills in America. It was built on the Shetucket River where a large dam could be built to provide the mill with the power it needed to begin production. The mill is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Today, The O’Neill Group in conjunction with general contractor, One Key LLC, has been tasked with the adaptive redevelopment and restoration of this historic mill in Taftville, CT. Our main challenge from this project was being able to design an aluminum window that would preserve the historical aesthetic of the beautiful large wooden windows. Most notably the wood bell tower windows which included arched, circle, and triangular shaped designs.
