AIA Continuing Education Learning Units

Given the positive response from our previous visits to architecture firms, we’ve had numerous requests from architects who couldn’t make it previously to host an AIA credited learning unit to give everyone more insight on the historical window process, especially from the eyes of the window manufacturer. If you are curious about the previous trips, please refer to our meet and greet in November of 2018 by clicking here. On this trip, Diamond and BR Johnson visited architects in Albany, Schenectady, Syracuse and Rochester.

One important takeaway from the learning units were questions about whether or not we aid the architect in meeting shippo, landmark commission, or the historical preservation society of each respective state, it may have a different denomination, and overall what is the level of support Diamond gives. The answer to this is that we fully support the architect, even in beginning stages of a project, because as a manufacturer, we recognize that with each project we encounter, the ability and diversity of the the products we have evolve, especially if it is a historical window we have not yet replicated or designed.

Another concern we addressed is the problem of storefront and historical window integration. This points to how we can interface with a modern storefront construction, while still being historically accurate aesthetic. Essentially, solving the problem of the transition from a standard putty bead profile of a historical window to the boxy flat surface of a modern storefront system.

We truly do appreciate the scheduling and effort of everyone involved to make these trips possible. That includes everyone at BR Johnson and the architects at their respective firms. Thank you to all the architectural firms who participated in these AIA learning units: John G. Waite Associate Architects, Butler Rowland Mays Architects,  C2 Design,  Syvertsen Rigosu Architects, Synthesis Architects, Hanlon Architects, SWBR Architects, Bero Architecture, Phinney Design, and Harris Sanders Architects.

If you are an architect around the upstate New York area and are interested in scheduling an AIA learning unit with Diamond Windows and BR Johnson, please do not hesitate to contact Erik Tseng (erik@diamondwindows.com) or Maryanne Cronin (mcronin@brjohnson.com). If you are from other areas in the Northeast or around the US, we are looking forward to creating an opportunity to visit you in the future!
